* With the new plan of classification plan of DB, on 1 January 1968, the char-fired machines were renumbered BR 041, and the oil-fired machines BR 042.

** An outstanding characteristic was the adjustable axle load on 18 t or 20 t, depending upon condition of the track substructure.

*** The cylinder diameter was reduced to 595 mm after framework tears in the first operational years, partially by substitution of the entire cylinder blocks after the Second Word War.

Since the BR 41 only built starting from 1936, the question arises, to what extent the German BR 41 from the BDZ 01 respectively the JDZ 06 derived is.

The substantially larger grate area of the Bulgarian and Yugoslav locomotives is remarkable - an unfailing characteristic for the intended use of inferior coal with smaller heat value.
